Pocket Outdoor Media expands its Active Lifestyle publishing footprint
BOSTON, MA and New York, NY June 30, 2020 Progress Partners, a Boston and New York-based M&A advisory firm, is pleased to announce that it has advised Pocket Outdoor Media (POM) a digitally driven active lifestyle platform, on their acquisition of three divisions from Active Interest Media (AIM). AIM assets include a broad range of properties from Warren Miller Entertainment and the Fly Fishing Tour, to a portfolio of well-regarded sports publications including Yoga Journal, Ski Magazine, Climbing Magazine, and Backpacking Magazine. This transaction will bring together one of the largest collections of content in fitness and health, coinciding with the launch of POM’s Active Pass which is providing access to all POM content and experiences in one single, annual membership package.
“We are excited to bring AIM?s broad portfolio of assets and its loyal audience into our vision to be the world?s home for active lifestyle enthusiasts and athletes. With this acquisition we will also be expanding our presence and platform to new areas that include a partnership with some of the largest US National Parks, the widely celebrated NASTAR ski racing series, and the IDEA Conference and Expo for Health Professionals,” commented POM’s Chief Executive Officer, Robin Thurston.
The M&A advisory team from Progress Partners, which acted as financial advisor to POM in the transaction, was led by Sam Thompson, Senior Managing Director, and Gretchen Tibbits, Managing Director. “We couldn’t have done this without the Progress team. They worked closely with us in all business aspects of the transaction,” stated Thurston. Gretchen Tibbits reflected on the growth potential for both companies from the transaction — “After years of work in the media industry, we are witnessing a remarkable evolution. The combined assets of POM and AIM, paired with Robin?s vision and leadership and the support of a world class management team, will herald a new era for the active lifestyle enthusiast.”
