Scott Messer

In his role as Senior Vice President, Media, Scott oversees revenue operations across Leaf Group’s Media division and manages a portfolio of 40+ owned and operated vertical-focused websites including eHow, Cuteness, Sciencing and OnlyInYourState.  Recently at Leaf Group, Scott led business development and ad-tech relationships for all media properties, establishing strong businesses and strategies in native advertising, international revenue, video, programmatic and first party audience data. Previously, Scott worked in business development for IMG Media, National Lampoon, private equity firms and the film industry. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in English from Emory University and a Master’s degree in Business Administration, with a focus on creative industries and entrepreneurship, from the University of Southern California.

Scott Messer serves as Senior Vice President, Media at Leaf Group (NYSE: GHC). He currently oversees revenue operations across Leaf Group’s Media division and manages a portfolio of 40+ owned and operated vertical-focused websites including eHow, Cuteness, Sciencing and OnlyInYourState.

Messer began his Leaf work as a senior manager focusing on third party monetization, revenue operations, vendor management, contract negotiations and advertising technologies. Over the years, he has facilitated hundreds of projects, deals and partnerships across Leaf Group’s various platforms and properties. In 2016, Messer became VP & GM, Media while running a business that provides unique editorial content solutions to partners on a fully managed basis and collection of owned & operated web properties.

With over a decade of experience, Messer has consulted for several companies in the fields of branded advertising, content development, corporate naming rights, talent relations, research and fundraising.

Prior to Leaf Group, Messer worked at Criterion Capital Partners, a merchant bank that invests capital and resources into micro and small cap businesses. Messer advised and performed business development for CCP’s portfolio companies and held an operational role in their Fatburger franchises.
